Joomla has so many new improvements coming. This list does not touch what Joomla can do. It is nice to see that Joomla is the clear winner for business needs.

This is a fairly sound commentary on Joomla vs WordPress from a technical point of view. It is however business requirements that drive adoption of software packages; and in this respect Joomla and WordPress are quite different animals.

WordPress, whilst it has grown, is basically a powerful blogging tool.

Joomla is a fairly advanced framework (significantly extending another framework) that is delivered with Content Management capability: it is built to extend, has thousands of extensions and is able to interact with other software via Web Service APIs.

I don't dislike WordPress. I helped a client use it a few months ago. I just approach software adoption on a business needs/requirements basis, and that leads to sound decisions which support the business in its growth. Joomla happens to be the Framework/CMS platform Business Geeks specialises in. There are other options in this class of software, for example Drupal, which is also very good.

'Horses for Courses' they used to say. Pick the right horse for the kind of race you want to run. I have no trouble recommending WordPress when it fits; it's a clear leader in 'traditional' blogging.

As Businesses Geeks works with growing businesses and not-for-profits, we mostly find the requirements are bigger than WordPress can deliver, driving the client to the class of software Joomla services. We thus have nine years of Joomla (ex Mambo) experience, have sponsored a tech video by the lead engineer (Andrew Eddie) and consider ourselves to be mature Joomla service providers. I cannot say the same for WordPress, but respect its ability and its 'space' :)
